Naturopathic Wellness

Naturopathic medicine includes a wide variety of traditional and natural healing arts. It uses therapies such as herbal medicine, hydrotherapy, diet and lifestyle counseling, as well as nutritional therapy and supplementation to support the body's innate ability to heal itself. Today's naturopathic medicine also incorporates evidence-based treatment and modern diagnostic technology, bringing you the healing power of both science and nature.

Functional Medicine

Functional medicine takes your whole body's health picture into account to find the root cause of your illness, instead of just treating the symptoms. Often, seemingly unrelated conditions may have the same root cause. For example, your headaches could be caused by the same imbalance that is causing your arthritis. By finding and treating the root cause, our patients' entire health profile improves in ways they didn't expect, Functional medicine offers real and lasting recovery, not just temporary relief.

Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine means bringing together treatments and expertise from more than one specialty to better address your health concerns. We believe every medical specialty plays an important role in overall health care. If your case can be solved by combining both conventional medicine and naturopathic care, we prescribe both! If we can get better results bringing another type of doctor in on your case, we will. We don't limit your options or compete with other doctors.

Primary Care for the Whole Family

We are a primary care practice, so you can feel confident in seeking our diagnosis and care as your first option. We can also make referrals to and from M.D.s and other medical specialists, and co-manage your case with your current physician if you choose.

We treat both children and adults, offering natural pediatric care, health care for adolescents, a full range of care for men and women's health issues via virtual appointments.

Meet the Doctor

Dr. Melissa Dybala received a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) degree as well as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. The ND degree is a course of study involving four years of post-graduate education in traditional and natural therapies in which students are trained to be primary care physicians.

Dr. Dybala also holds a chiropractic license in Illinois which allows her to serve as a primary care physician. She combines the best of allopathic and alternative medicine by coordinating care with and referring patients to appropriate specialists when needed for consultations, imaging or lab work. She cannot prescribe medications or discontinue prescriptions for patients in the state of Illinois, but rather recommends supplements that may boost health and wellness.

In addition to operating New Day Wellness Center, she served as the chief clinician for naturopathic medicine at the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS), where she supervised and evaluated naturopathic medical student interns and other clinicians, overseeing patient care and ensuring that standards of care were followed within the teaching clinic. She remains on the university's faculty, teaching courses in naturopathic theory, neurology, pathology, and business.

Dr. Dybala is a Chicagoland native who is the first in her family to get a college degree. She worked her way through college and received a bachelor of science degree from Governors State University. Before becoming a physician, she worked as a pharmacy technician for over a decade which gave her a perspective of pharmacology and allopathic treatments. This position fueled her drive and interest in the alternative medicine field as she saw a definite need for natural and conservative therapy integration within the field of conventional medicine.

Her hobbies include camping, biking, watching movies, and taking care of her pets.
